Integrating Library Resources into Blackboard: American History in Video

Includes hours of commercial and governmental newsreels, archival footage, public affairs footage, and important documentaries for student and researcher use.

There are two ways to integrate videos from American History in Video into Blackboard:

Linking to Video Clips from Blackboard:

Link to video clips from American History in Video using the Embed/Link option.

1. Click on the title for the video you are interested in linking from your  Bb course.

2. When the video appears appears on screen, click on the Embed/Link option near the top of the screen above the video clip.

3. When the Permalink / Embed window appears, click on the Copy Link button. Then paste the link into your Bb course. 

 


4. Add the following proxy URL: http://ezproxy.vccs.edu:2048/login?url=  

Your final URL should look something like the link below - click on the url to go to the article:

http://ezproxy.vccs.edu:2048/login?url=ahiv.alexanderstreet.com/view/1589660

Tip: When linking full title or segment title URLs, select the Open in new window option. Opening the link in a new window will avoid known and unknown issues between Blackboard and various web browsers.

Embedding Video Clips in Blackboard:

Embed video clips from American History in Video using the Embed/Link option.

1. Click on the title for the video you are interested in linking from your  Bb course.

2. When the video appears appears on screen, click on the Embed/Link option near the top of the screen above the video clip.

3. When the Permalink / Embed window appears, scroll down and click on the Copy Embed Code button.

4. Highlight, copy, and paste the embed code into your Bb course. Make sure to click on the HTML Source Mode option (<> icon) from the menu above the Bb Content window before adding the code into the window. 

      

5. Add the prefix URL http://ezproxy.vccs.edu:2048/login?url=  right after the src=" in the embed code. Make sure there are no spaces. See image below.

6. Click on the Submit button to save the embed code.  You should then see the embedded video in your Bb course.

NOTE: American History in Video clips are best viewed using the Firefox or Google Chrome browsers. If you use the IE browser, a log file window will appear when you open the content area where the video clip is located. Just close the log file window to watch the video clip.
