Citing Online Sources

Many students fear citing online sources, but the most important thing to remember is very similar to what we have seen before:

  1. Author (Last Name, First Name)
  2. "Title of the Webpage in quotes."
  3. Title of the website in italics.
  4. Date the webpage is published (if it is noted) in Day Month Year format,
  5. Location or web address of the webpage
  6. Date writer read the article (optional, depends on the professor).

Citing a Government Document Online

Many students struggle with citing a governement source, but even that isn't so hard.  Just keep in mind that the author is first: the name of the government, then the name of the government department, then the name of the government agency.
